What do I need to buy?The full Class A uniform: shirt, long pants or shorts, socks, belt, hat and the various patches for the uniform. (See Boy Scout Handbook). The Scout Shop helpers will help you find all of the various patches for the uniform. The Boy Scout Handbook is also part of the uniform. We strongly recommend that you purchase the book cover. The troop will provide you with the troop 663 neckerchief and the "663" troop number patch. What to bring to Troop meetings:Bring yourself smartly dressed in your Class A (field) uniform. Your handbook is also part of your uniform so be sure to bring it too. This is also the time to sign up for troop activities. There will be a table with red folders on them. The folders will each have a roster on them to sign p for the activity designated. Inside the folder are permission slips that must be signed and returned prior to the outing. It is a good idea for parents to pop into the meetings to take a look at the folders. Please check your e-mail:Almost all of our communication within the troop is handled through email. Please make sure that we have your current address (or addresses). Please check your Troop 663 Calendar:Following each PLC, a calendar is sent with the next three month schedule of activities. This calendar is also posted on the web site. Note that general troop meetings are held on the first 3 Mondays of the month. The 4th Monday is for the Patrol Leader Council (PLC). There are many 4th Mondays when the younger Scouts show up thinking that there's a general meeting. Check your calendars. Conduct & DisciplineScouts are expected to observe common courtesy and good behavior at all times putting to practice the Scout Oath and Scout Law. DisciplineWe use a "Yellow and Red Card" procedure. Incidents are categorized as either yellow Card or Red Card depending on the severity of the conduct infraction: Yellow card Incidents:
Red Card Incidents:
Please review the by-laws for detailed account of disciplinary process. Generally, if 2 Yellow Cards are issued during an activity, it may become a Red Card incident. If a Red Card is issued, the Scout is suspended from all activities until a conference with a parent is held. If necessary, disciplinary action may include immediate dismissal from the troop, probation, or suspension. Confused? Overwhelmed? We've all been there. There are many changes in the transition from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouting. Though it'd be great if you could, you're not expected to attend every meeting and every campout and every service project. Life is about making choices? We'd like to strongly urge you, however, to attend the Tenderfoot campout, the Path to First Class campout and the summer camp.
