On March 3rd, the scouts of Troop 663 hiked to the top of Whale peak at elevation 5,300 ft above sea level. The hike started from Blear Valley. The first point of interest was the pictographs down near the trail head. Further up the climb traces of snow were easily found and there was enough to assault the Scoutmaster from many hiding spots. Retaliation was brutal. The weather was perfect with just a slight breeze. Cholla’s were plentiful and easily picked up. (Accidently of course) 23 scouts attended and completed the hike including some new scouts to the troop
