Who are we?
-
Troop 663 was
started 1999 to help the overcrowding with the original Scripps
Ranch troop. There are now four troops in Scripps Ranch with ours
being the second oldest. We have currently registered 32 scouts and
7 Assistant Scoutmasters (ASM’s) as well as Scoutmaster Jon Sivers
and Troop Committee Chair Jan Lewis. We are lucky to have a number
of dedicated parent members of our committee also.
Where do we meet and
when?
-
We meet the first
three Mondays of the month at the Scripps Ranch Rec Center from
6:00pm until 7:15pm. The fourth Monday of the month is our Patrol
Leader Council (PLC) which is attended by our patrol leaders and
adult scout leaders.
What does our troop do?
-
Our troop has an
annual plan that includes a monthly camping and/or backpacking
activity in addition to the weekly meetings.
-
We currently have
three different summer camp opportunities for next summer including
one camp for newer scouts that is within an hours drive from here.
-
We are a boy run
organization and we utilize the patrol method as much as possible.
You will see that our senior patrol leader will be leading the
meeting.
How will your son
advance?
-
We work very
diligently with the new scouts and offer two unique campouts
specifically to help them with new scout skills – our Tenderfoot
outing and our Path to First Class outing in May and June each year.
-
We believe that if
we can encourage your son to earn the rank of first class by the end
of his first year of scouting, he will stand a much greater chance
of earning the highest rank in scouting, the prestigious Eagle Scout
award.
-
Our young troop has
had 9 Eagle scouts so far and we have 3 scouts will be Eagle by the
end of this year. There are also 5 life scouts finishing up their last requirements for Eagle.
